Day 15 - WISCO Visit

HELLO PEOPLE!! :D
The main highlight of today's blog will be the WISCO ( Wuhan Iron and Steel Company) Visit! Have you ever wondered how is steel plates is being formed? If you do not know the process of how steel plates is formed, today's blog post will be a useful one because i will be going through how steel plates is formed! Remember, it will be useful IF you read my blog post!
Before i start sharing what i learnt today, it's also interesting that i share with you some of my photos that i took in class today! Everybody is wearing their OIP polo t-shirt and coincidentally, the helmet that they loan us is red somemore! It looks as if we are the workers over there!
Reporting for work! :X Gathering outside WISCO!Safety at the Steel Factory is carefully observed. Everybody needs to play a part in the safety of the operations of the factory.

Firstly, Iron ore is heated at a blast furnace at a very high temperature so that the iron turned into molten red.
After that, the molten red iron is being transported by metal conveyor belt and through the cooling mechnism to clear off impurities sulfur, phosphorus, and excess carbon are removed from the raw iron, and alloying elements such as manganese, nickel, chromium, and vanadium are added to produce the exact steel required.

Cooling of the molten iron is not a single process, they are cooled serveral times.

Cooling Mechanism

At the last stage, the iron ore must be cooled down to a certain temperature for the bending and rowing into rolls! This is the final cooling system. (P.S. The iron ore are cooled by water ONLY! )

Next up, the cooled iron (not completely cooled!) is send to the bending and rowing systems.

Inspection of the row of steel! :DTransportation of Steel Rows.

I am very thankful that we got this chance to visti WISCO! And through the visit, i'm very happy to see the minor and major operations of Steel Making at WISCO. :D

Reflections: In Singapore, we hardly even have the chance to go to a factory to see how the operations of the factory mainly because of certain factors like security wise, safety wise and etc. But in China, the factories are abundant! Having to see how the operations works at the company, i really have a much greater impact of understanding, rather then just reading it from the textbook and other media. THANK YOU, WISCO!! :D
